Organizational Culture Survey Case Study 4 - Medical
Insurance Provider - The Acquisition
Medical Insurance Provider - The Acquisition
- The
Medical Insurance Provider profile reflects the opinion
of nearly 2000 people who work for the parent company
- The
Specialty Insurance Service Company profile reflects the
opinion of over 300 people who work for the company being
acquired
- The
parent company is a firmly established, major player in
the industry, managed very conservatively and traditionally
- The
acquired company is a newer entity, very entrepreneurial
in nature
- The
acquired company provides much needed specialty services
that will be integrated throughout the parent company
Background
- The
parent company, fortunately, is aware of the importance
of the cultural differences between the two organizations
- Both
companies' employees' opinions about the acquisition were
surveyed using the Optional Questions provision of the Denison
Organizational Culture Survey
- The
organization did a very extensive set of data cuts, based
on their demographics, to help understand as completely
as possible what is going on with both companies' cultures
- Top
management is buying in (slowly) to the importance of having
the HR department function as "cultural watchdogs" throughout
the transition
- To
further help focus in the Denison traits, the top 18 managers
of the new combined organization are participating in the
Denison Leadership Development Survey individually
