Organizational Culture and its impact on Organizational
Performance:
For years, Organizational Development professionals have
been hard-pressed to prove that an organization's culture
significantly impacts real-world, bottom-line financial performance.
Now, through the use of Aviat's Denison Organizational
Culture Survey, that link can be made in a practical,
impactful way.
Over a 15-year period, Dr. Daniel Denison of the University
of Michigan Business School conducted a series of studies
on the impact of organizational culture on organizational
performance. The findings identified four organizational culture
traits that impact performance: Involvement, Consistency,
Adaptability, and Mission which have been incorporated
in to the Denison Organizational Culture
Model.
Using the results of this research, we at Aviat collaborated
with Dr. Denison to develop the Denison Organizational
Culture Survey to provide a way to link organizational
culture to tangible bottom-line performance measures such
as:
- profitability - market share
- innovation - quality
- sales growth - employee satisfaction
The Denison Organizational Culture Survey translates
often difficult to understand behavioral concepts about organizational
culture into tangible, everyday business actions and strategies.
It enables leaders, key stakeholders, and employees of all
levels to understand how their culture impacts performance
and learn how to redirect their culture to improve organizational
effectiveness.
